Since time immemorial, man has wanted to soar like a bird. Some people tried to fly using feathers attached to their bodies as wings. Others tried to make analogues to bird wings. Each of these experiments led man towards improvement. Thanks to sheer chance and human ingenuity, the first hot air balloon was constructed.

Birštonas () is a balneological resort and a spa town in Lithuania situated 30 km (19 mi) south of Kaunas on the right bank of the Nemunas River.
